The Excavation of Hob's Barrow
Thomasina Bateman, an antiquarian is writing a book about the ancient barrows of England. It will document the treasures she uncovers inside. A captivating letter encourages her to explore the tiny village of Bewlay located in rural England. She travels there by train and her companion on the following day.
At the time of her arrival she discovers that the mysterious person who had summoned her to her home is not to be found. Her assistant never arrives. A stubborn landowner refuses access to the barrow and even the residents are wary of this lady going on her own, in her own vehicle and (gasp!) wears trousers.
Hob's Barrow excavation is off with a rocky starting point. Then Thomasina experiences strange visions...
